Kurubushi - Cinematic Soundscapes, Reverse Scores
It all started with a bimalleolar ankle fracture and the momentary inability to play guitar or drums. Eager to keep creating, I turned to hardware synths and learned to compose with sequencers — a major departure from my past, which was always constrained by band momentum and live replayability.
Pretty soon, I dove into modular synthesis, drawn to generative soundscapes and evolving, improvised textures. While I love getting lost in experimental phases, I always find myself gravitating back toward pattern-oriented, minimal compositions which act as cinematic soundscapes. I have now extended this approach to include guitars and bass, focusing on 'reverse scores' — evocative, atmospheric music designed to inspire images and trigger the listener's own internal cinema.
